Similar to codeine; when injected into the conjunctival sac (the cavity between the back surface of the eyelids and the front surface of the eyeball), it helps relieve pain and dissolve exudates (protein-rich fluid that has leaked from small vessels into the tissue) and infiltrates (seals) in inflammatory diseases of the eye tissues.
