Anisometropia

A difference of refraction in the two eyes. Thedefect is usually congenital, but it can be ac-quired, as in Aphakia, or operations of anykind. One eye may be emmetropic, the otherhypermetropic, or myopic, or one more hypermetropic, myopic, or astigmatic than the other.When one eye is hypermetropic or emmetropic,and the other myopic, the hypermetropic oremmetropic eye is used for distance, and themyopic eye for near-vision.
